Amazon, the tech e-commerce giant founded by Jeff Bezos is set and now ready to enter a new market – food delivery service in India
Amazon is considered as one of the Big Four tech companies for nothing. It is the world’s largest online marketplace, AI assistant provider, and cloud computing platform. It is also the largest internet company by revenue in the world. It’s been referred to as ‘one of the influential economic and cultural forces in the world’.
As part of its plans to expand and develop its portfolio, Amazon said that it plans to enter the food delivery market in India. This plan by Amazon was shortly delayed due to some circumstances, but the e-commerce giant said that they are now ready to enter India as its new market for food delivery service.
It is still not sure if the launch will be a part of Amazon’s Prime Now or Amazon Fresh platform, but according to a person aware, the launch is scheduled in March under Prime Now App. The arrival of Amazon in India will be a great threat to Swiggy and Zomato, the English platforms that are currently dominating the food delivery in India.

“Amazon does not care for timing… You can be last in a market and still win,” said an investor. A great example of this is the exit of Uber food delivery in India.
As of now, the Amazon food delivery service is limited to its own employees only but said that will be available across five high-density pin codes in the city. “The focus is to onboard Bengaluru’s top restaurants, with a priority on national food chains,” a source stated.
