Amazon to Hire 3,000 Seasonal Workers in Central Texas

Amazon is planning to hire as many as 3,000 seasonal workers in the Austin area, as the eCommerce giant ramps up for the holiday season.

Over 3,000 applications for seasonal jobs in the Austin area are opening up at Amazon. The company announced it is hiring fr 150,000 seasonal jobs across the U.S. of those, 15,000 are based in Texas. Amazon said in September that it planned to hire 125,000 more employees in the U.S. with about 17,000 of those jobs in Texas, including 11,000 in D-FW.

The company has also already pledged over 2,000 jobs at their Austin Delivery Station and San Marcos Fulfillment Center in 2021, according to data from the Austin Chamber of Commerce.

In a press release, the company said the new jobs will “help deliver great holiday experiences.” The average starting pay is $18 per hour, and some positions include a sign-on bonus of up to $3,000.
