Microsoft to Launch “Teams Phone with Calling Plan” in January 2022

Microsoft announced a plan to consolidate its cloud-based phone system geared towards small businesses called Microsoft 365 Business Voice.

The Microsoft 365 Business Voice with its Enterprise bundles to create a new product called ‘Teams Phone with Calling Plan’ to bring “enterprise-grade capabilities” to small and medium-sized businesses, which may give Microsoft the edge over the top business phone systems currently available for SMEs.

The Teams Phone with Calling plans is a cloud-hosted phone service that will let customers make and receive PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) calls on landlines and mobile phones in Microsoft Teams.

According to Alberto Martinez Interiano, Microsoft Product Marketing Lead, in a blog, “Teams Phone with Calling Plan] brings together calling, chat, meetings, and collaboration into a single app, enabling users to make phone calls from anywhere, on any device—including computers, smartphones, desk phones, and meeting rooms.”

Teams Phone with Calling Plan will be available in 33 markets as an add-on to Microsoft 365 and Office 365 plans that include Microsoft Teams and can be purchased directly from Microsoft or through an IT partner. Partners may start transacting Teams Phone with Calling Plan through CSP on January 1, 2022.

Teams Phone can also be purchased as a standalone service, which gives businesses the option to bring a calling plan from a third-party provider and is available in over 70 countries through a Microsoft partner.
