Mozilla Shutting Down its Password Management App

Mozilla announced that its Firefox Lockwise password manager app will reach end-of-life on December 13th.

Lockwise could function as an autofill provider on Android and iOS, allowing you to fill in passwords in other apps with logins saved in a Firefox Sync account. Mozilla is now shutting down Firefox Lockwise, but there’s already a replacement.

Firefox 93 for Android was released last month, and among other changes, it added the ability to function as an Autofill provider on Android — just like the dedicated Lockwise app.

“You will no longer be able to install or reinstall Firefox Lockwise from the App Store or Google Play Store,” Mozilla says in a support article. “iOS version 1.8.1 and Android version 4.0.3 will be the last releases for Firefox Lockwise. The application may continue to work on your device, but it will no longer receive support or security updates.”

The final release versions are 1.8.1 (iOS) and 4.0.3 (Android) and will no longer be available to download or reinstall after that date.
