The Ecommerce company Shopee opens a new headquarter in Singapore which was said to open over 3,000 job opportunities.
Shopee is an eCommerce platform in Southeast Asia that offers customers an easy, secure and fast online shopping experience. Shopee first launched in Singapore in 2015 and has since expanded to Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam.
The eCommerce platform was founded by Forrest Li in 2009. The team was rapidly expanding across the region. With that being said, Shopee opens a new regional headquarter in Singapore. The new headquarter was a six-floor building and has an office space of 244,000 square feet.
“Shopee has grown from a start-up to the region’s leading e-commerce platform in less than four years. Singapore has been our headquarters, even when we were just 10 employees strong. This new office marks our rapid growth so far and sets the stage for us to solidify our leadership position,” said Zhou Junjie, Commercial Officer at Shopee.
“Our new office reaffirms our long-term commitment to the country and elevates Singapore’s attractiveness as the Silicon Valley of Southeast Asia. Grooming more tech talent and nurturing an entrepreneurial ecosystem for sellers, including small and midsize enterprises, will continue to be areas of focus for us,” Junjie added.
With the aim of continually enhance its platform, Junijie said, “Going forward, as technology advances and the e-commerce landscape evolves, Shopee will continue to invest ahead of demand and build more advanced capabilities to better serve our users. “
The new headquarter is said to give over 3,000 job opportunities. Shopee also plans to hire more tech talents as it further expands in the region.

The new headquarter was also proof of the company’s commitment to invest and innovate in Singapore and the region. Since the launching four years ago, Shopee was already listed as one of the top three eCommerce platforms in Southeast Asia.
