Pick.A.Roo and FreshBuys Partnership Recently Ink

FreshBuys and Pick.A.Roo has officially inked a partnership to deliver fresh and quality produce straight to your home – Hassle Free!

Pick.A.Roo is the first all-in-one and on-demand premium lifestyle delivery app and will be pickin’ and rollin’ in cities in Metro Manila beginning August 18, 2020. And will be able to access 300 Pick.A.Roo approved merchants and brands that represent essentials: from premium groceries and luxury hotel goodies to gadgets, home, and kitchen products, toys, gifts, and food items.

The new consumer delivery app meant to help customers transition to the so-called “new normal.” and to fill the gap between online shoppers and offline retailers.

FreshBuys, on the other hand, is an organization that aims to help local farmers and promote local products in the country. It is an online market site that delivers fresh and organic fruits and vegetables from the mountains of Cordillera to your home.

The delivery startup Pick.A.Roo and FreshBuys ties-up to deliver fresh and quality products straight to your home – HASSLE FREE! VS Group Inc., FreshBuys main company CEO Angelo Valdez and FreshBuys CFO Fernando “Bob” Segovia officially signed the partnership agreement with Pick.A.Roo’s CEO Crystal Gonzalez.

Angelo Cenon Valdez is the practicing lean and innovation which pushed him to the top of the corporate ladder. He has a solid foundation in recruitment, talent management, and business consultancy having been exposed through his regional experience across the Asia-Pacific, which has made him an emissary in several fields of practice in HR. He is also the Managing Director of Morgan Philips Group Philippines.

Fernando “Bob” Segovia, a well-known personality in the Pharma Industry with over 30 years of experience and has worked with both multinational companies and major national companies. He is an insightful mediator and negotiator who has helped organizations in building strong interfaces between leaders, managers, and employees. He also launched some of the leading ethical and consumer brands in the market and was responsible for the launch of the #1 cholesterol product and set up a national company that markets the #1 multivitamins brand for children. He is the current Managing Director of Pascual Total Health and General Manager for Bionutra Innovations.

It was also reported that the new delivery startup Pick.A.Roo has received a $5 million investment from the technology and digital arm of property developer Megaworld Corporation.

The funding is the first for a startup for Agile Digital Ventures Inc. (ADVI) and promises to provide sustainability for the company founded by Crystal Gonzalez, Ex-Head of the Philippine Operations of Singaporean Grocery Delivery app Honestbee, and ADV President and Founder Kevin Tan, son of business tycoon and Megaworld Chair Andrew Tan.

“Even before this pandemic, we spent the entire year researching and planning a fresh concept that bridges the gap between premium offline brands and the growing online segment,” Tan said in a news release.

“With this vision in mind, we decided that to be able to create a unique all-in-one and on-demand premium delivery experience, we had to build our own homegrown start-up and redefine the Filipino’s shopping experience,” he added.

Gonzalez is ready to open Pick.A.Roo to more consumers by August. Pick.A.Roo’s Co-Founder and CEO Crystal Gonzalez is the former CEO Philippines and Southeast Asia at Canva. She previously served as the Country Manager Director of Honestbee. She also served at Viber as Regional Head, Southeast Asia, and Country Manager Philippines. Crystal also worked as Group Account Director at Tribal Worldwide, Head of Branding at Lazada, Marketing Head and Strategy Manager at Yahoo, Marketing Manager at The Estee Lauder Companies Inc., Product Officer at Smart Communications Inc., and Key Accounts Manager at ePLDT, Inc.

She also added the platform’s key advantage is its ability to address local needs and adapt to local culture.

“This time, we’re able to localize everything,” she says. Compared to Honestbee, Pick.A.Roo includes more local brands, with its management team, employees, and investors all Filipinos. It also takes into account the country’s digital infrastructure and consumer behavior.

Pick.A.Roo’s CEO and the team has big plans for growth, primarily with the expansion of the platform into more cities and regions in the country, and perhaps, in other countries in the region.

During the virtual launch, Gonzalez said Pick.A.Roo fills a gap in the increasingly crowded grocery and food delivery service space by focusing on premium products especially curated and “approved” by the platform.

Unlike other delivery apps, it serves as an online goods finder, lets customers pay in a single check-out process and get orders delivered door-to-door.  With Pick.A.Roo, customers may choose to pay with cash upon delivery or through credit cards, debit cards, and e-wallet, powered by local digital payments enabler PayMaya.

For now, it focuses on fulfilling deliveries in key cities in Metro Manila with the help of its 1500 staff and riders who are independent contractors.

FreshBuys and Pick.A.Roo’s partnership is to cover and deliver fresh produce and other local products to Metro Manila. The objective is to support farmers and other local businesses in the Cordillera Region and to bring the products directly to the consumers.

The FreshBuys Premium brand will be accessible to a specific niche and targeted market showcasing local products. The VS Group Product Development team focuses on the development of FreshBuys Premium products and is only accessible to Pick.A.Roo.

Pick.A.Roo will be available on closed beta on August 8. However, starting August 18, 2020, Pick.A.Roo will be opening up the app to more users in key cities in Metro Manila. Pick.A.Roo will be available for download via App Store, Google Play, and through their website, www.pickaroo.com.
