The National Basketball Association and Dr. Dre announced a partnership with Beats – the official sound gear for NBA, the WBA, NBA G League and USA Basketball starting October 2018.
Players are always seen using Beats headphones for their warm-up, while basketball and hip-hop are increasingly attached. According to Luke Wood, President of Beats by Dr. Dre, Julius Erving became a style icon, Allen Iverson cemented hip hop’s place on and off the court and LeBron James is breaking new music every day.
Beats is also looking forward to establishing deals with individual teams of the NBA that will also include products launched with localized brandings.
Wood stated that the NBA players have always been promoters of global culture, sports, music and fashion and Beats will be a great addition to further involve players.
In addition to Wood’s statement, Adam Silver mentions how Beats revolutionized the music industry and how it has become the most innovative and influential brands worldwide.
On the other hand, Apple’s AirPods, launched in December 2016, is growing in popularity among NBA stars in tandem with Beats. Furthermore, Footballers were seen rocking Apple’s AirPods during the 2018 World Cup.
