The Chinese automaker Geely is another brand to take on the all-electric car challenge as they launch their own all-electric car brand ‘Geometry’.
Geely is a global automotive group established in 1986 and entered the automotive industry in the year 1997. The company markets passenger vehicles under the Geely Auto, Lotus, Lynk & Co, PROTON, and Volvo (acquired from Ford) brands and commercial vehicles under the London EV Company and Yuan Cheng Auto brands.
As China’s biggest carmaker, Geely is also pushing to boost its plans on manufacturing electric vehicles like Toyota, BMW, Tesla, and the like. With this plan, Geely recently introduced its very own all-electric car which they called “Geometry“.
Geely already launches its first Geometry model – the ‘ Geometry A’. It is a high-end sedan that is worth $31,000. Geely claims that the orders of the first model already reached more than 26,000 globally.
Geometry A uses a new EV drivetrain which is originally developed by Geely, together with CATL ternary lithium batteries that have a capacity of 51.9kWh and 61.9kWh respectively. There is also fast charging support which was said to take Geometry A from 30-percent to 80-percent in just 30 minutes.
Geometry A is also equipped with a Super E Energy Station system that can charge laptops, ovens, and other equipment. As for safety, Geometry A is armed with a unique MOD front and rear moving object detection system, and RML intelligent driver seat pre-tensioning seat belt, and other active and passive safety features.
Geely is planning to launch 10 models of Geometry in different categories including Sedans, SUVs, crossovers, and MPVs by 2025. Each model will include a letter on its name.
An Conghui, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group President and Geely Auto Group President and CEO said, “Geely is a strong force and active participant in the field of new energy. We are guided by technological innovation and are determined to become a global leader in a new energy. Geometry is our answer to the future of the industry, a representation of our ideals, and a firm step into a “beautiful new world.” The launch of Geometry and its first product advances Geely’s strategic goal of becoming one of the world’s top 10 automotive groups.”
The Chinese company said that it will take overseas shipment but will mainly focus on the Chinese market.
