Held at the Shangri La at the Fort, Manila, the 2nd Annual ASEAN HR Innovation & Tech Summit once again sets the bar high to all the HR Summits to be dated.
Everyone was tickled pink throughout the 2nd Annual ASEAN HR Innovation and Tech Summit.
The two-day summit kicked off with an insightful masterclass on the first day, September 12. Spearheaded by the one and only Penny Bongato, Director of POWERinU and a Certified Jack Canfield Trainer in The Success Principle. Penny discusses Change Management, HR Transformation, Organization Development, and Value of HR as a Business Partner.
In the afternoon, Reynaldo Lugtu, President and CEO of Hungry Workhorse Consulting admirably managed to engage his audience to his discussion regarding Transformational Leadership in the Digital Age, Sense-making as a New Strategic Planning Tool, Generational Differences in Learning, Future of OD and HR, and Adoption of New Technologies and Change Management.
Sharing her insights about Digital Transformation, HR Transformation, Formation of Organization Culture is Datin Rowena Florece, HR Director – APAC HR Line Solutions, Microsoft, wherein she said, “Technology is not the digital transformation. Technology is not the true purpose of digital transformation.”
Talked about Key Methodologies During the Transformation: Identifying Strategy, Initiative and System During HR & Organization Transformation form a Holistic Point of View is Noel Fontanilla, Director of Human Resources, ADP Philippines Inc. Noel started his speech with a quote saying, “The World is Ever-Changing.”
Creator and Host of The Final Pitch of CNN Philippines, John Aguilar discussed the topic of Co-Creating the Future: Venture Building the ASEAN Region’s Next Exponential Startups. Showcasing his own show, a business reality show, The Final Pitch, helps entrepreneurs get funded. The Final Pitch will also be expanding across ASEAN Region such as Vietnam.
The panel discussion regarding Digital Transformation, Innovation & Organizational Transformation was moderated by Radu Palamariu with members from big brands such as Sixto Gaddi, Group Head, HR Workforce Management & Services of Banco de Oro, Universal Bank, Inc., Robin Bradshaw, Country Manager at Cathay Pacific and the three prior keynote speakers.
Judah Hirsch, CEO and Founder of Salarium was the first to speak on the Merging the Digital & Technology-Driven Talent as an Opportunity to Transform Business Agenda wherein he talked about Why do we need to focus on the strategic use of technology in HR Operation?
Next to speak is Kunal Malhotra, Regional Sales Head of LinkedIn Talent Solutions. Malhotra discusses The Power of Data & Insights in Recruitment wherein he said that “Digital manifestation of every job is still required looking for a job.”
Starting off with the question of “How do we hire the right talent or the right person at the right time for the right position in such a tight labour market?” is Ivy De Borja, Director of Human Resources & Recruitment at Harte Hanks where she tackles the Talent Acquisition and Recruitment: Improving Success Rate During Identification, Talent Acquisition and Development topic. On her part, she said, “My take on improving our success rate in talent identification is all coming from experience.”
The panel discussion regarding Building Leaders During HR and Organization Transformation was moderated by RJ Ledesma, Co-founder of Mercato Centrale Philippines and EasyFranchise. The members include first-day masterclass trainer Penny Bongato, Atty. Melody Favis, Regional HR Director of SGS Co., and the three prior keynote speakers.
During lunch and networking break, Head of Grab for Business Steven Martin Luchangco conducted a product presentation for everyone to adore and enjoy. In his presentation, Martin shows how Grab is beneficial for both riders and drivers.
In the afternoon, under Digital Leadership, Succession & Transformation Agenda were the highly regarded women of HR industries, Amrita Padda, Vice President of Human Resources at Unilever Philippines and Donna Grande, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at QBE Insurance.
Amrita Padda discussed The Future of HR needs continues Learning, Adaptation and Transformation. Talking about ETSY, Amrita said, “A lot of people want to have more than one thing to do.”
Next to speak is Donna Grande, tackling about Succession Management that Supports D&I in Digital Leadership. Starting off with the question “Are we ready for a digitalized world?” Donna also shared some of the top brands and said, “We are living in a digital world and we need to get our acts together and get with the program.”
The panel discussion regarding Integration & Organizational Transformation was moderated once again by Radu Palamariu with members including Pierre Monserrate, Chief HR Adviser of ESLCC Group, Satia Indrarini, HR Director of DBS Bank Indonesia, Michelle Rubio, Vice President of HR at UnionBank of the Philippines, and the two prior keynote speakers.
Under the Value of HR Transformation, Leadership & Change Agenda were Marvin Rodriguez, Country Director of MiraMed Global Services, Kristina Gil, Senior Director Recruitment of Sutherland Global, and Shine Rodriguez, HR Director of AXA Philippines.
Marvin Rodriguez talked on Leadership and Change during the Organizational and HR Transformation wherein he said, “It’s really very important, in any change initiative, to go back to the basics. What is it that you would want to do? So that it will stick.”
Kristina Gil discussed Ensuring the Balance in Both Process Automation and Basic of Talent Acquisition topic. Kristina Gil addresses what machine can do and what cannot by saying, “Machines will always be able to churn out and shorten the period of time but being able to set expectations to your candidates will make a difference.”
Shine Rodriguez tackled HR in Diversity, Development and Digitalization. Shine said that she is not a digital native. Talking about digitalization, Shine said, “I would want to challenge that digitalization is a function of generation or a function of age.”
The wrap-up panel discussion under the same agenda was moderated by Diego Jose Ramos of ASEAN HR Media Pte. Ltd. with members including first-day masterclass trainer Reynaldo Lugtu, Jennifer Nuya, HR Business Partner of Schneider Electric Philippines, Jennie Tarrobago, President of Casha, Darwin Baetiong, Head of Human Resources at True Money Philippines, Inc., and the two Rodriguez’s from the prior keynote speakers.
As the summit draws to its end, Grab, Anya Resort Tagaytay, RAFI, Madison 101, and Ambidextr arranged one final raffle draw. It was a surprise that the delegates were still engaging and were able to partake eagerly with the hosts. The Summit was indeed a hit to everyone who attended.
