Apple to build a new campus in Austin, Texas worth $1 billion

Apple said on Thursday, Dec. 13, that they will build a second campus in Austin, Texas spending $1 billion that will have 15,000 workers.

After becoming the first trillion-dollar company earlier this year, Apple Inc. (AAPL.O) is planning to build its second campus in Austin, Texas and ready to spend $1 billion. Though Microsoft surpasses Apple’s market value, it still plans to expand in Seattle, San Diego, and Culver City, California.

Big tech companies like Dell Technologies Inc. and IBM have their own plants in Austin, Apple still chose to build its own campus in the city since Austin is one of the fastest-growing U.S. cities and is home to the University of Texas.

Steve Adler, the Mayor of Austin, said that Apple has been a vital part of the Austin community for a quarter century and that they are thrilled that the company is deepening their investment in the city.

These extensions will give lots of opportunities to workers. The planned campus in Austin Texas will house up to 15,000 workers alone. This will help lots of workers, including domestic workers to have a stable and decent job.

According to Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, Apple is proud to bring new investments, jobs, and opportunities to cities across the United States and significantly deepening their quarter-century partnership with the city and people of Austin.

Some of the jobs that will be offered are engineering, research and development, operations, and finance.
