NIO, an electric carmaker and one of the main rivals of Tesla loses its US Chief Executive, Padmasree Warrior, since it went public in September.
Padmasree Warrior is the chief executive officer of NIO USA and global chief development officer. She joined NIO in 2015 and led the company along William Li, founder and CEO of NIO. Prior to joining NIO, Warrior serves as chief technology and strategy officer at Cisco Systems Inc and former chief technology officer at Motorola.
Warrior was the first major management departure of NIO. NIO said Warrior will leave the company for “personal reasons”.
Warrior said that she accomplished what she came to do. She outlined a technology vision, built a talented team of 700 people in the heart of Silicon Valley and delivered the first round of industry-leading technology modules.
Li and Warrior led the company to become one of China’s real challenger in the race of developing electric vehicles.
According to Li, Warrior has contributed to the growth and development of NIO through her leadership and rich experience. Li added that they wish Warrior in her future endeavors. He also thanked her for her service with NIO in the past three years.
The company said that they will not replace Warrior in the CEO role for its USA headquarters, instead, NIO’s day-to-day operations will be managed by Ganesh Iyer, global chief information officer and head of digital operations.
Padmasree will resign from her post on December 17.
