On Friday, Aug. 24, Facebook announced the hiring of Lucio as the company’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) who will start on September 4.
Lucio will take over the position of Gary Briggs, who announces his step down, will start as CMO of Facebook on September 4 and will be reporting to Facebook Chief Product Officer Chris Cox. He will also be a part of the leadership team under Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg.
Lucio has an exceptional reputation as a marketer, a leader, an operator. And a wise, gracious, and deeply principled person, Cox said in a statement. Cox further added that they are very lucky to have Lucio in the company.
Lucio spent more than three years at HP Inc. During his administration, he was best known as an outspoken advocate for diversity.
Prior to joining HP, Lucio spent 8 years at Visa as Chief Marketing Officer also and held the marketing leadership roles at PepsiCo Inc., Kraft General Foods, RJR Foods International, and Procter & Gamble. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history at Louisiana State University.
Vikrant Batra, global head of marketing for HP’s printing division, will be taking the place of Lucio.
