The battle for the foldable smartphone is raging on as Samsung and Huawei introduced their very own foldable smartphones.
Huawei Mate X wraps the screen around the front and back. It uses one screen on the outside in three different ways. Mate X features two FullView Display panels in 6.6-inch and 6.3-inch size that jointly bring 8-inch OLED display that lit-up screen switches depending on how you turn the phone.
The dual-SIM (Nano) Huawei Mate X runs Android 9 (Pie) on top of EMUI 9.1.1. It has a HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, coupled with 8GB, Balong 5000 5G chipset, and 512 of onboard storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB).
Huawei Mate X sports a two-in-one front and rear camera setup powered by Leica optics. The camera setup includes three sensors, including a 40-megapixel sensor, 16-megapixel, and an 8-megapixel sensor.
Huawei Mate X has two battery packs that jointly offer 4,500mAh of capacity, has 55W Huawei SuperCharge technology that is rated to deliver 85 percent of power in 30 minutes of charge.
Huawei, being one of the leading smartphone makers, hopes to unfold a new reputation as an innovator. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business said that they want to show the world that 5G can make the world better. “We are leading in this”, he continued.
Huawei Mate X is priced at 2,300 euros ($2,600) and will be available in June or July.
