MasterCard retains Bangkok as top one most visited City in the world

Bangkok as first in the list of MasterCard’s most visited country in the World.

Bangkok remains as the number one most visited city in the world according to MasterCard’s 2018 Global Destination Index, the city has retained its position for up to three years up until now and beating London and France for the spot.

Bangkok, also known as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, is famous for its nightlife where tourists are most attracted to and also from its street foods.

In 2017 alone, the City of Bangkok in Thailand welcomed 20.5 million international tourists in its premises. People who visit in the city stays an average of 4-5 nights while spending to around $173 per day. The city also predicted that it will be hosting 9.06% more people this 2018. MasterCard’s annual list looks at visitor volume and spends at the worlds’ largest 162 cities, this has been taken from both vacation and business travelers.

Executive Vice President for Global Cities at MasterCard, Miguel Gamiño said that Bangkok and all other top destinations have one thing in common, and that is how they captured the imagination and dollars of visitors. He also added that visitors are the ones that give the economy a run for their money, from spending to hotels, taxis, restaurants, spas and other goods.
