Thursday, April 29, another 500,000 Sinovac’s CoronaVac vaccines arrived in the Philippines, completing the 1.5 million doses for delivery this April.
The National Task Force against COVID-19 said in a statement, The vaccines arrived via commercial plane Cebu Pacific at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport 2.
Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the shots will be distributed immediately “in areas that are experiencing high cases of COVID-19.”So far, the Philippines has received a total of 3.5 million doses of CoronaVac, including the one million doses donated by the Chinese government which came in two tranches – February 28 and March 24.
According to a timeline from Galvez, a total of 5.5 million vaccines are expected to arrive in April. Apart from Sinovac, vaccines from Gamaleya and COVAX are also expected.
