On Monday, October 1, photo-sharing app Instagram named Mosseri as the new head.
Mosseri was a designer and studied information design at New York University. He joined Facebook in the year 2008 and was close to Mark Zuckerberg as Moserri ran Facebook’s News Feed and Facebook Home before becoming Instagram’s Vice President of the product earlier this year.
It was apparent that Mosseri will become Systrom’s successor because of his product experience. People who worked with Mosseri said that he is very thoughtful and well-liked and the most visible exec of Facebook.
Moserri said in a statement that he was humbled and excited about the opportunity on leading the Instagram team. He also thanked Systrom and Krieger for trusting him to carry forward what they have established. Mosseri also added that he will do his best to make the Instagram community.
Chris Cox, Facebook’s chief executive also said they will never fill the shoes that Kevin and Mike left, but they will work hard on the incredible community the two founders have built.
Facebook’s share went down to at least 1.3% after Instagram’s founders’ resignation announcement.
