Netflix continues to dominate the video-streaming plans in India offering a low budget mobile-only in the region.
The American media-services provider Netflix confirms that they are rolling out mobile-only in India providing a cheaper plan to stream videos. Watching movies and TV shows are even better for Indian people with the said cheaper plan.
Netflix wanted to utilize the use of smartphones and the growing data consumption in India. Mobile data plans are said to be the cheapest plan in the World. It was March when Netflix started to test the low-cost subscription in India with a 250 rupee or $3.63 price.
“After several months of testing, we’ve decided to roll out a lower-priced mobile-screen plan in India to complement our existing plans,” Netflix said.
“We believe this plan … will be an effective way to introduce a larger number of people in India to Netflix and to further expand our business in a market where Pay TV ARPU is low,” the company added.
According to the video-streaming services company, the lowering of its subscription plan would help them attract more users. The launch of the cheaper plan in India comes alongside Q3.
Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said, “We’ve been seeing nice steady increases in engagement with our Indian viewers that we think we can keep building on. Growth in that country is a marathon, so we’re in it for the long haul.”
The launch of the cheaper mobile-only plan comes at a perfect time as Netflix will add 5 new five original series to India list.
