Niantic, the company builders behind Pokémon GO, collaborates with WB Games to work on the new mobile augmented reality game “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” in November 2017. After teasing the world for over two years, they finally released the official date of launching the game on June 21st. The game is Niantic’s follow-up to “Pokémon Go,” which is well known for its global phenomenon kick when it was launched back in July 2016.
The announcement was held at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Studios in Hollywood. The event was attended by famous influencers who were invited to the exclusive event. The attendees were able to experience playing the game first hand. It was formerly first released limitedly in early May, which was made available only in Australia and New Zealand.
In the new game “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite,” players are expected to have an adventurous play in exploring the real world, in search of signs of magic and encountering famous and phenomenal Harry Potter characters along the way, just like “Pokémon Go.” The players will take the task on the role of a new wizard working with the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, the team responsible for deciphering the great mysteries of the Calamity, a huge event that scattered magical artifacts and creatures all over the world of the game.
The game will be released on June 21st worldwide on both iOS and Android in the Apple Store and Google Play Store, respectively.
