The Philippines Food and Drug Administration has approved the application of Sinovac Biotech to conduct clinical trials of its COVID-19 vaccine.
According to FDA Director-General Eric Domingo, “All of the companies that applied with the FDA for clinical trials have already been approved. So I assumed they started it already. The Janssen of Johnson & Johnson, the Clover Biopharmaceutical, and Sinovac, all of them have clinical trials here.”
Currently, there are two ways for a COVID-19 vaccine under development to enter the Philippines — by conducting a study through clinical trials or by getting a EUA that allows the vaccine to be procured by the national government for an immunization program.
Sinovac received its approval from the FDA on January 15.
