Samsung’s Newest AI Center in New York

Samsung announced their sixth Artificial Intelligence Center on robotics in New York last September 7, during the facility’s opening ceremony.

Daniel D. Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung Research will be leading the newly announced Center, cooperating with H. Sebastian Seung, leading authority in neuroscience-based AI technologies.

The New York AI center will expand on advanced AI research in robotics even further in partnership with Samsung’s Research five other Global AI Centers, and therefore is planning to employ more than 1,000 specialists by 2020.

The Global AI Centers are located in Korea, UK, Canada, Russia, and another in Silicon Valley, US respectively.

President and Head of Samsung Research, Hyun-suk Kim pointed out their intention of making people’s lives easier and more convenient by actively using AI in Samsung’s products and services.

Due to the recent extraordinary progress in the field of AI by combining AI with neural networks, this will be a new era of innovation in AI, and all six of the Research Centers are proudly looking forward take part in evolving technology, according to H. Sebastian Seung.

Meanwhile staying true to their new marketing strategy on mobile phones, Samsung is releasing mid-tier devices Galaxy A6 and Galaxy Tab A on September 14.
