Snap Inc., which owns the popular photo messaging app, Snapchat, is still in search for new Chief Financial Officer after former CFO Tim Stone announced his departure earlier this month. For the meantime, the company appointed its Chief Accounting Officer Lara Sweet as interim CFO.
Snap’s CEO Evan Spiegel said that they will remain highly focused on ensuring that they have leaders in place to help them achieve their vision for the future. According to him, Lara has intricate knowledge of Snap’s financial procedures and controls, and she will provide seamless continuity to the finance team while they search for a permanent CFO.
Sweet has been with the company since June 2016 and currently the company’s Chief Accounting Officer. Previously, Sweet served as VP Controller at Snap. Prior to Snap, she held executive finance roles at AOL.
Sweet, on the other hand, said that she looks forward to continuing to support Snap in her expanded role and working with her colleagues to deliver meaningful progress on executing their financial goals.
As interim CFO, Sweet will supervise the company’s finance, accounting, and people teams. Sweet will be reporting directly to the Spiegel.
