Toyota’s Self-driving Car Development with Uber

Toyota announced yesterday, August 27, that it will be partnering with Uber in order to expand the development of its self-driving car.

Earlier this year, Japan’s SoftBank had already “invested $1.25 billion” to Uber. Now, Toyota had partnered with the ride-hailing company with an investment value of $72 billion.

The partnership between the two companies will integrate Uber’s ride-sharing services into Toyota vehicles and technologies. With the technology that they are developing together, they hope that it will give their respective customers a better experience.

Combining Toyota and Uber’s unique services as well as integrating each other’s platform on this newest venture, they will be able to bring a new kind of service to the masses. The services that they are currently developing will include “Uber’s self-driving car system and Toyota’s safety technology.”

The new project of the two collaborating companies is expected to take off by the year 2021. Considering that they are the first one to propose this kind of technology, both are concentrating on the success of this project and their top priority does not only focus on convenience and uniqueness, but also on the safety of those who are going to be the main beneficiary of their technology.
