Johnson & Johnson (J&J) to be the first drugmaker to take a step in adding prices to its products in its tv advertisement campaign.
Johnson & Johnson is an American multinational medical device, pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods manufacturing company. They believe good health is the foundation of vibrant lives, thriving communities and forward progress.
Today, as the world’s largest and most broadly based healthcare company, J&J is committed to using its reach and size for good. They strive to improve access and affordability, create healthier communities, and put a healthy mind, body and environment within reach of everyone, everywhere.
The company said it will start adding prices on their TV commercials. With this move, J&J will be the first drugmaker to put the price of their drugs that will be advertised directly to consumers on TV. Both the actual product price and discounted price will be shown on the said commercial.
According to Scott White, head of J&J’s North America pharmaceutical marketing, the health care giant will begin with its popular blood thinner, Xarelto.
The move was also recognized by the U.S. Health and Human Services. Alex Azar, Secretary at U.S. Health and Human Services said that they commend Johnson & Johnson for recognizing the value of informing consumers about list prices and for doing so voluntarily.
Sazar also calls out other manufacturers to follow J&J with their decison on including prices on their product ads.
