Amit Zavery left Oracle last week after a long time of service at the company. He joined Oracle in 1995 and held different positions. He started his career at Oracle as a solution architect in the video server product team. His recent position was Vice President of Oracle Cloud Platform at Oracle before leaving.
Soon after his departure from Oracle, Google cloud has hired Zavery to lead its engineering team Apigee, which they had acquired in 2016. Apigee helps leading companies design, secure, and scale application programming interfaces (APIs).
He already started working at Google Cloud as vice president of engineering on Monday, March 11, 2019. Zavery will help Google add tools to its platform that can help businesses develop applications for their workers or customers.
Google Cloud has been continuously rebuilding its cloud management team. In line with this, Google Cloud hired Thomas Kurian, also a top executive from Oracle, to be its new Chief Executive.
According to Holger Mueller, an analyst of Constellation Research Inc., Zavery shifting to Google is not surprising given his relationship with Kurian. “Kurian is rebuilding his management team at Google, and all executives in transition look for talent that has helped them in the past”, Meller said.
Zavery will work alongside former Apigee Chief Executive and now the Vice President of Google, Chet Kapoor.
