Bosch launches cloud technology for longer electric battery life

Want a longer battery life for your electric vehicle? Worry less! Bosch has created a cloud-based management service to extend your EV battery life.

“Bosch is connecting electric-vehicle batteries with the cloud. Its data-based services mean we can substantially improve batteries’ performance and extend their service life,” said Dr. Markus Heyn, member of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH.

The German multinational engineering and technology company Bosch once again displayed their expertise in electronics with the launch of its new cloud-based solution that allows electric vehicle’s battery to last longer.

The new service which was called ‘Battery in the Cloud‘ can help extend electric car batteries as much as 20% longer than usual. “Powerful batteries with long service live will make electromobility more viable,” Heyn said. The cloud-based system is much needed for a long drive journey.

Bosch cloud-based system monitors and analyzes the stress of battery once plugged in. According to the company, the smart software functions in the cloud are able to continually analyze the battery status and take appropriate action to prevent or slow down cell aging.

“By reducing the battery charge by only a few percentage points, the battery is protected against inadvertent wear and tear,” the company said.

DiDi Chuxing, the largest ride-hailing service in China, would be the first customer to try Bosch’s cloud-based system.
