Razer, a global hardware manufacturing company that has built the largest global gamer ecosystem of hardware and software has decided to shut down its digital gaming store after less than a year of operation. The gaming store promised to offer instant access to thousands of digital games. Sad to say, Razer is pulling up the plug of the gaming store to an end.
Razer didn’t give a specific reason on the shutdown but said that the decision is part of the company’s realignment plans. Razer’s move also doesn’t mean that the company is leaving the game distribution business entirely, considering that it will be investing in other ways to deliver great content.
Razer game store released an announcement to its gamers saying, “Dear Gamers, We regret to announce that Razer Game Store will cease operations on February 28, 2019, at 0100hrs Pacific Time as part of the company’s realignment plans.
It has been a privilege for us to recommend and deliver great deals to you. We have been extremely fortunate to have you as part of our awesome community. Thank you for the support and making all this possible.
We will be investing other ways to deliver great content and introduce game promotions through Razer Gold, our virtual credit system.”, the letter continued.
Razer, being one of the dominant brands in gaming, plans to devote more resources to its Razer Gold virtual credits system in order to deliver more game promotions. Though the gaming store comes to its end, Razer said that it will continue bringing games to gamers via other services.
